MOBILE, Alabama – Andre Landrum has been sentenced to two Life sentences following his convictions for Rape First Degree and Burglary First Degree as well as 30 years in prison for Rape Second Degree, announced District Attorney Keith Blackwood.
Landrum was found guilty in May 2026 by a Mobile County jury for crimes committed in 1997 when he broke into a Mobile County residence and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl while holding her at knifepoint.
Evidence presented at trial established that following the assault, investigators recovered male DNA evidence from the crime scene. At the time, the DNA profile did not match anyone in available law enforcement databases. Through continued investigative efforts over the years, authorities ultimately obtained a DNA sample from Landrum that matched the evidence collected from the 1997 crime scene, leading to his identification and conviction nearly three decades after the attack.
Today, Judge Pipes sentenced Andre Landrum to two Life sentences for Rape First Degree and Burglary First Degree, as well as 30 years in prison for Rape Second Degree.
District Attorney Keith Blackwood issued the following statement:
“For nearly three decades, the victim carried the trauma of this horrific crime. This case demonstrates the importance of preserving evidence, advances in forensic science, and the determination of law enforcement and prosecutors who never gave up on seeking justice. In Mobile County, time does not erase responsibility, and we will continue pursuing justice for victims no matter how many years have passed.”
