MOBILE, Alabama – A Mobile County jury has found Elizabeth Sprinkle guilty of Criminally Negligent Homicide, District Attorney Keith Blackwood announced today.

On the morning of December 13, 2021, tow truck driver Jonathan Neesmith was removing a disabled vehicle from Interstate 65 when Elizabeth Sprinkle failed to slow down, changed lanes, and struck Neesmith, killing him.

After deliberating, a Mobile County Jury found Elizabeth Sprinkle guilty of the lesser-included charge of Criminally Negligent Homicide that claimed the life of Jonathan Neesmith.

District Attorney Keith Blackwood stated:

“Jonathan Neesmith was simply doing his job when his life was taken in such a preventable tragedy. Today’s verdict holds the defendant accountable, but it will never undo the pain caused to Mr. Neesmith’s family and our community.”

The State of Alabama was represented by Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Frisella, Trial Coordinator Brooke Stanford and Victim Service Officer Leigha Arthur.

Sentencing for Elizabeth Sprinkle will be November 20, 2025, at 9 a.m. in Judge Phillips courtroom.
