MOBILE, Alabama – Marcus Cobbs Jr. has been sentenced to 25 years in prison following his conviction for Trafficking Marijuana to benefit a Criminal Enterprise, announced District Attorney Keith Blackwood.
A Mobile County jury returned a guilty verdict on February 25, 2026, after hearing evidence that Cobbs knowingly participated in and advanced an organized criminal enterprise operating within Mobile County. This case also represents the first Criminal Enterprise prosecution of its kind in Alabama.
On Thursday, Judge Phillips sentenced Cobbs to 25 years in prison.
District Attorney Keith Blackwood issued the following statement:
“If you choose to take part in organized criminal activity in Mobile County, you will be held accountable. This case is not just about drug trafficking; it’s about dismantling the networks that fuel violence and profit from illegal activity. The Criminal Enterprise statute gives us the tools to go after those operations at their core, and that’s exactly what we will continue to do.”
The Criminal Enterprise statute allows prosecutors to target coordinated criminal networks by holding both leaders and participants accountable for operating ongoing illegal enterprises, rather than treating offenses as isolated incidents.
The State of Alabama was represented by Assistant District Attorney Stuart Lang and Trial Coordinator Carla Nealy.
