April 4, 2025

MOBILE, Alabama – A Mobile County Circuit Court Judge has found Victor Roland guilty of Intentional Murder, announces District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

On July 3, 2021, victim Derrick Carson was walking down Middle Ring Road in Mobile when defendant Victor Roland drove up and fired multiple shots at him. Carson then ran as far as he could to get away but ultimately died a few hundred feet away from where Roland shot him.

After Victor Roland’s bench trial concluded yesterday afternoon, a Mobile County Circuit Court Judge found him guilty of the intentional murder of Derrick Carson.

“Our victim died running for his life,” says Keith Blackwood, Mobile County District Attorney. “There is no justification for Victor Roland’s behavior – this was a senseless act of violence.”

The State was represented by Assistant District Attorney Megan Everett and Dru Stuardi along with Trial Coordinator Shyla White.

Sentencing is set for May 15 at 8:30.
