Nyyon Sanders Convicted of Intentional Murder in 2022 Killing of D’Angelo Wallace

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 15, 2026

MOBILE, Alabama – A Mobile County jury found Nyyon Sanders guilty of Intentional Murder in the 2022 killing of D’Angelo Wallace, announced District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

This conviction stems from a fatal shooting that occurred around midnight on October 5, 2022, on Navco Road. Evidence at trial showed that during an altercation between Sanders’ family member and D’Angelo Wallace, Sanders retrieved a firearm, placed it to Wallace’s head, and shot him at close range. After the shooting, Sanders and a family member moved Wallace’s body into a nearby ditch to conceal it, then returned home and took steps to destroy evidence and evade law enforcement.

The jury returned a guilty verdict on April 8, 2026.

District Attorney Keith Blackwood issued the following statement:

“This was a deliberate and calculated act of violence, followed by an attempt to hide the truth. Thanks to the work of the Mobile Police Department, the first-class team at the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office and the careful attention of this jury, that truth came to light.”

The State was represented by Assistant District Attorney Stuart Lang, Trial Coordinator Carla Nealy and Victim Service Officer Leigha Arthur.

Sanders is scheduled to be sentenced on May 13, 2026. He is also awaiting trial on a separate charge (Capital Murder) for an offense allegedly committed while out on bond in this case.
