Victor Roland Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2021 Murder

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 16, 2025

MOBILE, Alabama – Victor Roland has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a 2021 homicide, announced Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

On July 3, 2021, victim Derrick Carson was walking down Middle Ring Road in Mobile when defendant Victor Roland drove up and fired multiple shots at him. Carson then ran as far as he could to get away but ultimately died a few hundred feet away from where Roland shot him.

In April of this year, a bench trial was held in which a Mobile County Circuit Court judge found Victor Roland guilty of the intentional murder of Derrick Carson.

“There is no excuse for Victor Roland’s actions – this was a cruel and senseless act of violence, said District Attorney Keith Blackwood. A sentence of life in prison is just and appropriate for the deliberate taking of a life.”

The State was represented by Assistant District Attorney Megan Everett and Dru Stuardi along with Trial Coordinator Shyla White.
