Blackwood sworn-in and names second in command.
MOBILE, Alabama – Mobile County’s new District Attorney Keith Blackwood was officially sworn into office Wednesday, taking the rein as the county’s top prosecutor. City and county elected officials, law enforcement officials, community members and leaders as well as family and friends packed the Ceremonial Courtroom in Mobile Government Plaza for Blackwood’s investiture Wednesday morning.
“I am honored and humbled to serve as the leader of the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office. I will carry the oath that I took this morning with me as I work each day building a safer community for the citizens of Mobile County,” says Keith Blackwood, Mobile County District Attorney.
Blackwood has named Jennifer Susman as Mobile County’s Chief Assistant District Attorney. Susman joins the District Attorney’s office from the City of Mobile where she was the Chief Assistant City Attorney – Criminal Division. Prior to her role as a city prosecutor, Susman was an Assistant District Attorney at the Mobile County District Attorney’s office, as well as a prosecutor at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, IL.
“I’m thrilled to return to the District Attorney’s Office –working alongside former colleagues–pursuing justice for victims and the citizens of Mobile County,” says Jennifer Susman, Chief Assistant District Attorney.
“Jennifer’s commitment to justice, leadership as Chief Assistant City Attorney and her experience as former Assistant District Attorney and State’s Attorney made her the perfect choice for Chief Assistant District Attorney,” says Keith Blackwood.
Blackwood is excited to begin his new role as District Attorney working alongside his team, partnering agencies and members of the thirteenth judicial circuit to serve the citizens of Mobile County.
