DA Task Force Executes Arrest Warrant on Mobile Man for Attempted Rape of Elderly Woman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 25, 2024

MOBILE, Alabama – A Task Force of the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office has executed an arrest warrant on a secret indictment for Elvis Henderson this morning.

Elvis Dewayne Henderson was indicted by the December 2023 Mobile County Grand Jury for Attempted Rape, Burglary 2nd, Robbery 3rd and Elder Abuse 2nd.

The crime occurred in June of 2023 when Elvis Henderson broke into the home of an elderly woman and beat her in attempt to sexually assault her. A neighbor overheard the victim’s struggle and came to her aid, removing Henderson from the property.

“This kind of violence against our most vulnerable citizens will not be tolerated,” says Keith Blackwood, Mobile County District Attorney.  “We will prosecute Mr. Henderson to the fullest extent of the law.”

Henderson was given a $30,000 bond for the Attempted Rape 1st charge, $20,000 for the Burglary 2nd charge, $10,000 for the Robbery 3rd charge and $20,000 for the Elder Abuse charge.

The DA Task Force is in collaboration with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals. The task force expedites arrests on defendants who have been secretly indicted, beginning their prosecution in court much sooner than before.
