MOBILE, Alabama –A defendant charged in the 2022 murder of a 14-year-old juvenile has pled guilty, Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood announces.
Kelvin Estell Jr. has pled guilty to the crimes as charged – Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle and Breaking and Entering into a vehicle. On February 15, 2022, a 14-year-old juvenile was killed from multiple gun shots at a home on Cheshire Drive. Estell is one of six suspects the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office charged in relation to the murder.
Judge Windom sentenced Kelvin Estell Jr. to the following:
Murder – 20 years to serve
Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – 20 years to serve
Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle– 10 years to serve
Breaking and Entering -10 years to serve
“We are pleased that Estell has pled guilty to the crimes we believe he committed,” said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood. “This decision not only brings a measure of justice to the victims and their families but also reinforces the importance of accountability in our legal system.”
The remaining defendants, have all been indicted by a Mobile County Grand Jury are awaiting trial except for Kentrell Freeman, whose trial is currently underway.
