MOBILE, Alabama – Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood announced today that a jury found Devonta Hall guilty of Intentional Murder in the 2023 shooting death of LeCharles King, as well as Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, following a trial in Mobile County Circuit Court.
The jury returned the following verdicts Wednesday afternoon:
- Intentional Murder: Guilty
- Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle: Guilty of the lesser-included offense of Reckless Endangerment
- Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle: Guilty
The charges stem from the June 18, 2023, shooting of LeCharles King at the Pride Gas Station on St. Stephens Road. Surveillance video showed an individual exit Hall’s vehicle with a rifle and open fire on King’s vehicle. Hall then exited with a handgun and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle. Despite being shot multiple times, King managed to escape and run a short distance before collapsing and dying from his injuries.
“This was a deliberate and deadly act of violence with no regard for human life,” said District Attorney Keith Blackwood. “This verdict holds Devonta Hall accountable for taking LeCharles King’s life, and I hope it brings some measure of justice to his family. I am grateful to our prosecution team and investigators for their work on this case.”
The State was represented by Assistant District Attorneys Clayton Williams and Katherine Wick, Trial Coordinator Anabel Sheppard, Victim Service Officer Reagan Frost, and MCDA Investigators Robbie Morrow and Chief Donald Boykin.
Hall is scheduled to be sentenced on October 15, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
