National Crime Victims Week

This year, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week will be commemorated April 19–25, 2026

Crimes—both violent and non-violent—impact individuals and families in our community every day, often bringing unexpected loss and lasting change.

The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office is committed to ensuring that victims are heard, believed, and supported throughout the justice process. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is an opportunity for our community to come together, honor those affected by crime, and stand in support of victims and their families.

Ways to get involved:

The Luminary Project

Community members are invited to create a luminary in honor or in memory of a loved one who has been impacted by crime. Luminary materials will be available beginning April 6 in the Atrium of Government Plaza. Participants may decorate a luminary bag with names, messages, or tributes.

Completed luminaries must be returned by 12:00 pm on April 21. They will be displayed that evening during the National Crime Victims Vigil.

National Crime Victims Vigil & Resource Fair

Tuesday, April 21 at 6:00 pm
Government Plaza Atrium

Join us for a meaningful evening of remembrance and support. This solemn vigil will honor those whose lives have been lost to crime. If you have lost a loved one to violence, you are invited to bring a photograph to be included on a remembrance board during the event.
