MOBILE, Alabama – Xavier Dixon has been sentenced to 50 years in prison announces Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood.
In April 2025, a Mobile County jury found Xavier Dixon guilty of Provocation Manslaughter, Shooting into Occupied Vehicle and Shooting into Unoccupied Dwelling relating to the January 2023 death of Martyn Hands. Xavier Dixon opened fire on unarmed victim Martyn Hands while Hands was in his vehicle at the entrance of an apartment complex on Girby Road. Dixon fired off 13 shots into Martyn Hands vehicle using an AR-style weapon killing Martyn Hands. One of those 13 shots entered an unoccupied apartment at the complex.
Today Judge Windom sentenced him to the following to run concurrently:
20 years for Provocation Manslaughter
20 years for Shooting into Occupied Vehicle
10 years for Shooting into Occupied Dwelling
“The sentence handed down today is both just and appropriate given the severity of the defendant’s actions,” said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood
The State was represented by Assistant District Attorneys Katy Sipper and Dylan Szymanski, Trial Coordinator Karlene Vesely and Victim Service Officer Reagan Frost.
